12D/11N Alpamayo – Ulta - Huaraz

 

Day 01: Huaraz – Hualcayan.- After the breakfast in the Hotel in Huaraz, we leave going to the north going by the pictures towns of Tarica, Jangas, Carhuaz, Yungay and Caraz, from here we continue until Molino Pampa near to the Cañon del Pato, and we begin to ascend toward the east, we will go up for some hills full with cultivation lands observing a great variety of cultivations of corn, potato and other cereals, finally we arrive at the town of Hualcayan, and here we settle our camp, to (2,950 masl). Here we will dinner and spend the night.

Day 02: Hualcayan – Wishcash.- After the breakfast, we will begin our trek from the town of Hualcayán. This first day will be a little difficult for that the road is almost to go up and we ascend approximately from 2950masl up to the (4,100masl). We can appreciate at the same time the black mountain range, we will appreciate the beautiful evening, here we will have dinner and spend the night.

Day03: Wishcash – Osorurish.- We continue with our trek of 5 at 6 hours, we continue with the trek to the lagoon cullicocha giving us together a surprise of their beauty with the snowfall of Santa Cruz and we continue toward the Paso Jatun Vientona (4,850masl). From here we can already observe the Milluacocha Ice-mountain (5,480masl). And from this side we descend approximately one hour and we arrive to our osoruri camp (4,400 masl), and we have dinner and spend the night.

Day04: Osorurish – Jancarurish.- After the breakfast in the camp we begin with our trekking with a small ascent of one hour approximately toward the step of Ichioc Vientona (4,750masl), then we begin to descend to the ravine of Alpamayo, exactly until the ruin pampas agricultural terraces Pre-Inca, and we observe the Ice-mountains of: Millhuacocha, Pilanco, Pumapampa, etc. We will continue our trek until arriving to Jancarurish, from where we have an impressive view of the ALPAMAYO (5,947 masl) in its pyramidal form, winner of the competition of scenic beauties, carried out in Munich - Germany in 1963, obtaining the titles of the MOST BEAUTIFUL MOUNTAIN IN THE WORLD. We install our camp in Jancarurish (3,950masl), here we will have dinner and spend the night.

Day05: Descanso y Visita Campo Base – Quitaraju.- This day we will be an optional to visit the campo base of Alpamayo in the north Area or simply to rest in the jancarurish camp, you can coordinate with the guide; here we will have dinner and spend the night in the same camp.

Day06: Jancarurish – Huillca.-we leave very early and immediately we begin to ascend a very hard ascent and after an arduous work of the we arrive to paso cara cara (4,830masl) from here we will have impressive views of Santa Cruz's and Quitaraju Ice-mountains, also other mountains. We will descend by the ravine of Moyobamba, then we reach easily the step of Tayapampa (4,500masl), then we descend by the ravine safuna and to arrive until our camp in Huillca. We will have dinner and spend the night.

Day 07: Huillca – Jancapampa.- Breakfast and then we continue with our trekking to ascend to the step of Yanacon (4,600masl). The snowy Pucahircas is observed. Then we descend a long road until arriving to the camp of Jancapampa.

Day08: Jancapampa – Quisuar.- After the breakfast in the camp we begin the trekking. We descend by the ravine of Pishcopampa, after tha we ascend toward the south side until reaching the step of Tupatupa (4,400masl). From here we have beautiful views of the landscape, and after a small rest we descend toward the ravine Tuctubamba, and we arrive to the small town of Quisuar, then we continue toward the Huecroncocha lagoon where we will install our camp. We will have dinner and spend the night in Huecrococha Lagoon.

Day09: Quisuar – Tuctu.- we leave in the morning as of habit after the breakfast a gone up moderate slope until the Paso of the Alto Pucaraju (4,650masl). Panoramic view of the Ice-mountains of the White Mountain range like Taulliraju, Chacraraju Pyramid of Garcilazo, Paria to descend toward Tuctubamba where we will install our camp (4,300masl) and we will have dinner and spend the night.

Day10: Tuctu – Colcabamba .- After our breakfast, we begin to walk about 1 ½ hours. to the beautiful view Punta Union, then down the beautiful valley where the small towns we pass Huaripampa, and where we will Colcabamba (3,300masl) Here we can meet the people of the Andes, whether traditional dress, work done so.

Day11: Colcabamba – Jaylla .- After our breakfast, begin our trek on a trail easy to see the beautiful valley of conchucos, before starting to climb the beautiful through the trees as quishuar, quenual, etc. Mageyo. To reach our camp Jacay (4,350masl) our camp we can listen and watch from time to time the mountain avalanches Contrahierbas and also have the opportunity to visit the beautiful lake ice Keshu with pentane.

Day12: Jaylla – Ulta – Huaraz .- After our breakfast, we ascend by a zigzag path to the beautiful Yanayacu step; we look at the mountains, Contrahierbas, ulta, Huascaran south Chopicalqui, then down to the ravine Ulta for a time of 2 hours where we expect our transportation, to bring us back to Huaraz. Return approx. 4 pm
