The sacred valley, along the Vilcanota River, is one of the most beautiful places of the archeological Peru. It is a succession of picturesque towns (some with beautiful colonial churches), Incan platforms and archeological remains, as well as roomy spaces where the best corn grows (giant white corn) of the entire world and it has an excellent weather that makes this valley an obligated destination for everyone that visit Cuzco.The Incas called this the Sacred Valley because it was where they developed a rich agricultural society, and built fortresses and different complexes, like Pisac and Ollantaytambo, each place has thousands of stories to tell. For all mountain biking lovers, Peru has one of the largest networks of Inca remains and following the innumerable trails that connect with the most amazing sites in the Cusco, Puno Nazca, Lima, Arequipa, Paracas, passing through remote villages out of the reach of motorized vehicles, and having the chance to get know local Andean communities and learn their amazing life style. Mountain Biking Tour is a relatively new sport in Peru, but new routes are rapidly being opened up, many of which offer excellent opportunities to ride.... For the more adventurous people, we arrange long biking trips. We are best undertaken and an experienced tour operator providing professional guides and bicycle equipment .We have cycle trips from 1 up to more days designed to get the most out of your holiday. Beginning in the high Andes and descending into the Amazone Jungle, we cycle from altitudes of 5000m to 600m. Biking on the single tracks, dirt roads, and humid lands, frigid and warm climates, camping or spending in the local's family houses.
Itinerary: At 7 am we pick you up from your hotel and 30 minutes travel by our own private transport to Abra Ccoroa on 3600m, here is the begin point for our downhill - cross country mountain biking into the Sacred valley of the Incas. Safety orientation regarding all the gear of our bikes, the protective gears, and description of the route. From here we will descent on nice asphalt road (beginners) or riding in the single trucks for experience bikers. In Pisaq (2970m) it is possible to do a short hike to visit the archaeological remains of the Incas time, visit the Andean market and continue biking along the greenness sacred valley on the right bank of the river connecting to Qoya, Lamay, Calca, Urubamba (2880m) and Ollantaytambo (2850m) riding on asphalt road without traffic and getting wonderful views of terracing, colony churches and also, people working the mother earth.
After 4 to 5 hours pedalling 33mi (52km) we will be in Ollantaytambo, have lunch and travel back to Cusco arriving at 3 to 4pm and end of service.
