What are the benefits of doing a private trek?- One of the main reasons why the private option is sought after is because you do not need to worry about which dates we have departures set for or if our departures have enough space…Your only concern is whether or not there are permits available…You can choose almost any date that you want if permits are available… In addition to the convenience and flexibility in booking, the private option provides a more personal trip experience for your group. We will pick you up and drop you off at your hotel….The guide will focus all of his energy and attention on your group. You can also be more specific about the foods that you would like to be served during the trek. It is a truly wonderful experience to go on such an amazing journey with only your friends and loved ones. Ask a South Adventure Peru Tours Rep how you can arrange your own private tour.
This trip takes you on one of the most incredible train journeys in the world to reach a magnificent site - Machu Picchu!! The route zigzags up to the highest point of the railway (3668m/12033ft) and continues through typical Andean regions down to the tropical area of Machu Picchu located at 2400m/7873ft above sea level. See and enjoy more...!
Machu Picchu Imbued with a magical silence, 120km (74mi) from Cusco on the slopes above the Urubamba River, lays one of the world’s most extraordinary archaeological sites. Machu Picchu (2400m / 7872ft) is probably the most familiar symbol of the Inca Empire. It is thought that the city was built by the Sapaq Inca Pachacuti, starting in about 1440, and was inhabited until the Spanish conquest of Peru in 1532. Archaeological evidence (together with recent work on early colonial documents) shows that Machu Picchu was not a conventional city, but a country retreat town for Inca nobility.
Last Minute Information.- If you are wanting to include an ascent of Huayna Picchu in your visit to Machu Picchu beware that there are new regulations and permits have to be bought in advance. The cost to have a Machu Picchu entrance that includes the permits to climb Huayna Picchu is $10 extra and you need to indicate yes to this in your web reservation at the time of your booking….There is a limit of only 400 permits for climbing Huayna Picchu and only 200 people are permitted to enter for each of the 2 sessions scheduled for 7am and 10 am. The guide will organize the tour of Machu Picchu around people’s climb of Huayna Picchu depending on how many in the group have permits. Please note your entrance to Machu Picchu and permit for Huayna Picchu are with your name and passport details so are non transferable and non refundable.
The site has a large palace and temples dedicated to Inca deities Inca deities around a courtyard, with other buildings for support staff. It is estimated that a maximum of only about 750 people resided in Machu Picchu at any one time, and probably only a small fraction of that number lived in the town during the rainy season and when none of the nobility were visiting. Machu Picchu, its name comes from the ancient Quechua word that means “Old Mountain”. This site was built entirely of stone, using every space in harmony with function. Machu Picchu has been known as the “Lost City of the Incas”. The most common way is to take the train to Machu Picchu in the morning, explore the ruins and the afternoon return to Cusco. Another better option is stay overnight in Aguas Calientes and the next day to get in earlier to the complex. Machu Picchu is a trip to the serenity of the soul, to eternal fusion with the cosmos; there we feel our own fragility. It is one of the greatest marvels of South America. A resting place of butterflies at the epicenter of the great circle of life. One more miracle”. Pablo Neruda (poet). South Adventure Peru Tours is independent recognized tour operator for Machu Picchu mystery ancient Inca town.
