The day long rafting trip has become an extremely popular tour for all sorts of tourists here in Cusco. We will go to one the 2 different sections of the river, depending on the season. “This trip will get your adrenaline pumping, for sure!”
Description:The Urubamba River is a beautiful river that runs from the high Andean ranges and weaves down through the Sacred Valley, past Machu Picchu and into the thick Peruvian jungles. It has some very exciting white water rafting, depending on the section of the river and what time of the year it is. One of our most popular rafting sections, during the season, is the Cusipata section, in the upper section of the river. It is a scenic hour and half to arrive there and it is worth every minute.
Cusipata is one of the nicest sections of the Urubamba river for rafting activities, as it is less crowded, very scenic and cleaner than the Ollantaytambo section in the Sacred Valley. It consists of rapids that are graded II, III, and IV plus. Overall, you will be riding the water for about 2 and a half hours, with some parts for relaxing and soaking up the experience, and other parts for pumping up your adrenaline levels.
Upon your arrival to the river, you will gear up with your wetsuits, helmets, waterproof jackets, and life jackets. The guide will then take that oppertunity to give a 15 minute safety briefing, and give general information for beginners (how to paddle, following instructions, etc.). You can leave your day pack on the bus while you are the trip. On the river, you will encounter class II, and III plus rapids, as well as some introductory rapids. Some rapids are technical, so our expert guides will scout ahead and indicate appropriate directions/ commands. Also, there will be a guide in a kayac for protection for your safety. Finally, you will arrive at the end of the rafting section. This trip is known to be TONs of fun, with lots of “adrenaline pumps” along the way. You will have a great picnic lunch, with hot and cold drinks, right there in the middle of the lush landscapes of Peru./
